And thus it begins, my first spoiler review of a Superior Spider-Man comic! What better way too start it off than Avenging Spider-Man #15.1! While Superior Spider-Man already debuted in the last issue of Amazing Spider-Man, this is the first issue we get to see his personal thoughts and get a better understanding of what we are in for when Superior Spider-Man #1 launches in 2 weeks!
We begin right after the ending of Amazing Spider-Man #700. Dock Ock has killed Peter Parker and has taken his life completely. He has his job. His family. His girlfriend. And the power and responsibility of Spider-Man. In the issue we see him coming Dr. Ock(or Peter now..) coming to terms with what's happening. He is evaluating Peter's life and realizing how inferior Peter is to what could be. How he wastes things with his life and how he can live so simple yet has the potential to achieve so much.
During this issue, we get development on Mary Jane's romance with Peter Parker, more insight of what the new Spider-Man thinks of working at Horizon Labs. we also get Peter Parker getting a new hide out(which is Dock Ocks old hideout) after thinking most of the places he usually visits are too crowded.
While this issue was short, it did what it needed to do, and got use to the idea of Doctor Octopus being Spider-Man. It gave us a nice understanding of what Dock Ock thought Peter's life and how he is going to be changing things. I still can't get enough of Mary Jane and Peter Parker dating again, so that is something I definitely liked in this issue.
Overall, this comic is highly enjoyable and I recommend for anyone who is considering picking up Superior and seeing how they like the idea in this short epilogue to Amazing Spider-Man #700.

I don't get it. Why is it good if the writer kills Parker? Why does a lot of people welcome this crazy idea? Btw i am hungarian too.
ReplyDeleteThis issue gave a better look into the new age of Spider-Man. I can see why people are mad with ASM 700, but as Slott said, they should read this and then Superior Spider-Man #1. I don't think the story is done by far between Doc and Peter.
